Users with Oracle Linux Premier Support can now use Ksplice to patch
against this Bug fix Advisory.

We recommend that all users of Oracle Linux 5 install these updates.

Users of Ksplice Uptrack can install these updates by running :

# /usr/sbin/uptrack-upgrade -y
On systems that have "autoinstall = yes" in /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf,
these updates will be installed automatically and you do not need to
take any additional action.

Description of changes:

* Improved fix for CVE-2012-0038.

The original upstream fix for CVE-2012-0038 didn't prevent an integer
overflow
which may lead to memory corruption.

* Kernel panic in the SCSI device handler.

When using software RAID, activating a new SCSI data path might cause a
kernel
panic due to lack of validation of a pointer.

* Client with an NFSv4 mount becomes unstable after the server is restarted.

A machine with open files on an NFSv4 mount could become unstable
following an NFS server restart, due to incorrect error handling.

* NFS client connecting to the server hangs if packet loss occurs.

A client connecting to an NFS server will immediately disconnect
without sending any data if it experiences TCP packet loss. Incorrect
retry logic will cause it to reconnect and eventually get into an
inconsistent state.

* Under certain circumstances mounting NFS shares causes a kernel panic.

When mounting an NFS filesystem, the client's kernel will panic due to
an incorrect assertion in __rpc_create_common() which expects dentry
to not be hashed.

* Regression: Kernel panic when loading ip_gre.

The fix for CVE-2011-1767 introduced a regression which results in a
kernel panic when the ip_gre module is loaded.
