ocfs2-tools is fully backward compatible. Our tools works with all ocfs2 versions.
Production, mainline, etc. ocfs2-tools 1.6.3 is the latest release of tools that
will show up in various distros. Most of these distros will just build ocfs2 that is
in the mainline kernel. Then they will be uptodate as far as the feature-set is
concerned.

ocfs2 1.6 fs that builds on EL5's native kernel does _not_ exist.

Sorry, I cannot comment on future product releases.
