If you want the volume to be clustered, we would require a heartbeat.
But I do get your point and we are looking at avenues of reducing
the disk hb overhead by making it global, perhaps. But that's for 1.4.

For now, see if that volume has to be clustered. If not, maybe use ext3.

On a side note, we recently checked into mainline local mount functionality
that will allow users to mount ocfs2 volumes locally without any cluster
overhead.
