[Ocfs2-users] ocfs2 failed on Fedora core 3

Hi Joel,

It is a new area to me, I need you to clarify a few things for me please.

I download 3 packages, ocfs2 plus its tools and support.
I first tried to install support, and it failed:
root at linacle ocfs2]# rpm -ivh ocfs2-support-0.99.0-1.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
   1:ocfs2-support ########################################### [100%]
Checking for Red Hat enterprise kernel: [FAILED]
error: %post(ocfs2-support-0.99.0-1.i386) scriptlet
failed, exit status 1

Is there anything else I should do before I try your suggestion "to put the module in the proper module path (somewhere
in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers) and run depmod -a."?

Which module do you mean please? Is it ocfs2-2.4.21-EL-0.99.2-1.i686.rpm? Do I put this file here, and install from here will be fine?

In /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers, there are many sub-directories, do I need to create a sub-directory?

What will "depmod -a" do here?

Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks in advance and kind regards.
Han

You need to put the module in the proper module path (somewhere
in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers) and run depmod -a. Then
load_ocfs2 should work.
