Synopsis: New Ksplice Uptrack client provides several improvements
Version: 1.1.0
Issue date: 2010-10-15
OBTAINING THE NEW VERSION
We recommend that all Ksplice Uptrack users on Debian and Ubuntu
systems upgrade to the latest version. You can upgrade to the latest
version of Ksplice Uptrack by running:
# apt-get update
# apt-get install uptrack
(This new Uptrack release will be available on RHEL-based systems soon).
DESCRIPTION
The updated Ksplice Uptrack client includes fixes for the following issues:
* Uptrack could mis-identify machines generated by cloning an existing
machine, resulting in multiple machines appearing as a single entry
in the Uptrack web interface.
* Several unusual problems had confusing or unclear error messages.
* On some systems, the install_on_reboot option did not always install
updates.
* The uptrack-manager GUI application could freeze and need to be
restarted in response to certain error conditions.
* Improved support for using Uptrack on systems with a 64-bit kernel
and a 32-bit userspace.
* Added an option to control whether Uptrack will look up the system
proxy server in GConf.
In addition, the updated Ksplice Uptrack client makes the following
changes to the Uptrack client notification options:
* The cron_output_install, cron_output_available, and
cron_output_error notification options have been removed. Customers
who are still using these options should migrate to the other
notification options provided by Ksplice Uptrack.
* The updated Uptrack client includes a new Nagios plugin to monitor a
single machine directly using the local Uptrack package cache. This
is in addition to the existing Nagios plugin that uses the Ksplice
Uptrack API to let you monitor multiple systems. For more
information, see
<http://www.ksplice.com/uptrack/nagios>.
