[Ksplice][RHEL 5 Updates] New updates available via Ksplice (RHSA-2012:0480-1)

Synopsis: RHSA-2012:0480-1 can now be patched using Ksplice
CVEs: CVE-2012-1583

Systems running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 can now use Ksplice to
patch against the latest Red Hat Security Advisory, RHSA-2012:0480-1.

INSTALLING THE UPDATES

We recommend that all users of Ksplice Uptrack on RHEL 5 install these
updates.

On systems that have "autoinstall = yes" in /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf,
these updates will be installed automatically and you do not need to
take any action.

Alternatively, you can install these updates by running:

# /usr/sbin/uptrack-upgrade -y


DESCRIPTION

* CVE-2012-1583: use-after-free in IPv6 tunneling.

A flaw in the IPv6 tunnel handling could allow a remote attacker to
trigger a use-after-free or double free allowing a remote user to
trigger a denial-of-service.


* Kernel crash in Ethernet bridging netfilter module.

The use of uninitialized memory in the Ethernet bridging module could
result in the incorrect handling of frames and a kernel panic.


* Unresponsive I/O using QLA2XXX driver.

Faults in the QLA2XXX driver and HBA firmware could result in
unresponsive I/O during storage fault testing.
