Synopsis: FEDORA-2014-9139 can now be patched using Ksplice

Systems running Fedora 20 can now use Ksplice to patch against the
latest Fedora kernel update, FEDORA-2014-9139.

INSTALLING THE UPDATES

We recommend that all users of Ksplice Uptrack on Fedora 20 install
these updates.

On systems that have "autoinstall = yes" in /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf,
these updates will be installed automatically and you do not need to
take any action.

Alternatively, you can install these updates by running:

# /usr/sbin/uptrack-upgrade -y

DESCRIPTION

* NULL pointer dereference in block control group queue draining.

A race between draining and destruction of a block control group queue
could result in a NULL pointer dereference and kernel crash.

* Invalid mappings in hugetlb mappings on fork().

The hugetlb subsystem did not correctly copy page ranges on fork().
This could result in segmentation faults and library assertions when
accessing hugetlb mappings after a fork().

* Deadlock in zram in disk validation.

Incorrect locking in the zram filesystem when revalidating the disk can
trigger a deadlock and kernel panic.

* Kernel panic when paging non-linear pages.

The kernel does not correctly handle paging non-linear pages which can
trigger a BUG and kernel panic. This can be triggered by mmapping a file
on a tmpfs filesystem.

SUPPORT

Ksplice support is available at ksplice-support_ww at oracle.com.
