[Ksplice][Debian 9.0 Updates] New Ksplice updates for Debian 9.0 Stretch (DSA-4196)

Synopsis: DSA-4196 can now be patched using Ksplice
CVEs: CVE-2018-1087 CVE-2018-8897

Systems running Debian 9.0 Stretch can now use Ksplice to patch
against the latest Debian Security Advisory, DSA-4196.

INSTALLING THE UPDATES

We recommend that all users of Ksplice Uptrack running Debian 9.0
Stretch install these updates.

On systems that have "autoinstall = yes" in /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf,
these updates will be installed automatically and you do not need to
take any action.

Alternatively, you can install these updates by running:

# /usr/sbin/uptrack-upgrade -y


DESCRIPTION

* CVE-2018-8897: Denial-of-service in KVM breakpoint handling.

Incorrect stack management of data watchpoints and breakpoints could
allow an unprivileged user to crash the system.


* CVE-2018-1087: KVM guest breakpoint privilege escalation.

Incorrect breakpoint emulation for a KVM guest could allow a local,
unprivileged user to escalate privileges inside the guest.
