Synopsis: 5.14.0-70.30.1.el9_0 can now be patched using Ksplice
CVEs: CVE-2022-2585 CVE-2022-30594

Users with Oracle Linux Premier Support can now use Ksplice to patch
against the latest Oracle kernel update, 5.14.0-70.30.1.el9_0.

INSTALLING THE UPDATES

We recommend that all users of Ksplice Uptrack running RHCK 9 install
these updates.

On systems that have "autoinstall = yes" in /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf,
these updates will be installed automatically and you do not need to
take any action.

Alternatively, you can install these updates by running:

# /usr/sbin/uptrack-upgrade -y


DESCRIPTION

* CVE-2022-2585: Use-after-free in POSIX CPU timers.

A use-after-free flaw exists in the kernel's POSIX CPU timers
functionality when a timer is created and deleted in the non-leader
thread of a program. This allows a local user to cause denial-of-service
or escalate privileges on the system.


* CVE-2022-30594: Privilege escalation in Process Trace.

Lack of validation of the ptrace flags when seizing a process through
ptrace could be used to disable a seccomp jail. A local, unprivileged
user could use this flaw to evade a seccomp jail and elevate their
privileges.


* Warn on the lack of key exchange during NTLMSSP authentication.

Warn on the lack of key exchange during NTLMSSP authentication rather
than aborting it as there are some servers that do not set it in
CHALLENGE message.
