INSTALLING THE UPDATES

We recommend that all users of Ksplice Uptrack running UEKR4 4.1.12 on
OL6 and OL7 install these updates.

On systems that have "autoinstall = yes" in /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf,
these updates will be installed automatically and you do not need to
take any action.

Alternatively, you can install these updates by running:

# /usr/sbin/uptrack-upgrade -y

DESCRIPTION

* Correctly propagate changes in CPU features after late microcode loading to
guests.

A logic error when defining the CPU features to pass to the guest caused
features added after a late microcode update to be missing. This would
prevent guests from mitigating vulnerabilities involving CPU hardware bugs.

* CVE-2017-18208: Denial-of-service when using madvise system call.

A logic error when using madvise system call with WILLNEED option on a
Direct Access filesystem could lead to a deadlock. A local attacker
could use this flaw to cause a denial-of-service.

Orabug: 29925610

* CVE-2019-6133: Privilege escalation via forked process impersonation.

A race condition between recording process start time and assigning a pid can
allow an attacker to impersonate a privileged process. A local user could use
this flaw to escalate privileges.

Orabug: 29850581

* Improved fix for CVE-2017-5715: Indirect jumps in 32-bit compatibility syscall
handling.

A failure to correctly use non-speculative sequences when making indirect jumps
in 32-bit compatibility syscalls can result in a speculative execution
vulnerability. A local user could use this flaw to leak information from the
running system.

Orabug: 29909295

* CVE-2018-7191: Denial-of-service via use of crafted tun device name.

A failure to correctly validate a user supplied name for a tun device can
result in a NULL pointer dereference, leading to a kernel crash. A local user
with the ability to configure tun devices could use this flaw to cause a
denial-of-service.
