   system call, doing path_walk and stuck in autofs4_wait
   - always set direct mounts catatonic at exit.
   - fix error handing in do_mount_indirect().
   - check negative cache much earlier.
   - log pipe read errors.
   - fix handle_mounts() termination condition check.
