We are pleased to announce a new major release of Berkeley DB 11gR2 (11.2.5.3.15). There are many features and enhancements in this release. Below are some of the major areas of focus.

Mobile Devices
- Added per-application support on Android OS
- Optimizations for mobile platforms

XA
- Enhancements to XA two phase commit support
- MVCC now enabled in conjunction with XA

SQL API
- Performance improvements for SQL API
- Better error handling for SQL API

High Availability (HA)
- Improved handling of recovery from splits and other adverse events for HA
- Enhancements to HA for SQL API

Heap Access Method
- Bulk operations for HEAP access method
- Further enhancements to HEAP access method

Oracle Product Integration
- Oracle Tuxedo adds official support for Berkeley DB
- Further enhancements for Database Mobile Server interoperability 

Other Improvements
- Enhanced interface for hot backups
- A number of bug fixes and additional enhancements
