It will technically work, yes, as long as users of the API check the
sysctl tables for the value to use instead of compiling something in.

Using these unreserved values runs the risk of conflicting with
something else that might be doing the same thing.  I don't know what
else might try and use them, if anything.

This issue also comes up with SOL_RDS and the sysctl tables, I think.
