[Ocfs2-users] RMAN backupset in OCFS2 and NetBackup

Thanks Sunil. Unfortunately Veritas said it is not supported.
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/293087.htm.
I thought OCFS2 is designed to be a general file system, different from
OCFS, which can only do direct_io. If so, I don't see any issue for
Netbackup to backup files from OCFS2 LUN, as long as it is not a
database file. Even ORACLE_HOME can be installed in OCFS2 LUN. If so,
and Netbackup does not support backing up from there, which would be bad
for Netbackup shops.
Thanks,
Hai

fyi... while the ocfs2 fs has reused ext3's directory handling code, and
uses
jbd for journalling, it has not, in any way, evolved from ext3. It will
be better
if you ping the vendor (veritas for netbackup) to ensure that netbackup
is
configured correctly.
