We are very pleased to announce the availability of Oracle NoSQL
Database 12c (12.1.3.3.4). It is available for download immediately
from our <a
href="http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/database-technologies/nosqldb/downloads/index.html">OTN
download page</a>. Please forward this announcement widely.<br>
<br>
Oracle NoSQL Database 12.1.3.3.4 adds several new security features
and supports new language interfaces for Node.js and Python. We
strongly recommend that users upgrade to this release to take
advantage of these new features.<br>
<p><u>New Security Features: </u> Users are now able to enforce
table-level access checks through both the API and administrative
command line interface (Admin CLI) by using a new series of
table-specific privileges.<br>
</p>
<p>Modifications to the data definition language (DDL) have been
added to provide a declarative interface to all security
operations.<br>
</p>
<p>Users are now able to create new roles to group together
privileges or other roles. This provides a way to grant a group of
desired privileges to a user. New role management commands have
been added to support create and drop roles, and to grant and
revoke privileges or roles to and from other roles.<br>
</p>
<p>Passwords now have lifetimes and will expire when they have been
in use beyond the specified lifetime. It is also possible now to
explicitly expire a password when adding a new user or by altering
the profile of an existing user. Users are required to renew the
expired password before they can log in to the store.<br>
</p>
<p><u>Oracle NoSQL for Node.js and Python (preview): </u> Oracle
NoSQL 3.3.4 has added support for Node.js and Python. The Node.js
driver is available at <a
href="https://www.npmjs.com/package/nosqldb-oraclejs">npm</a>
and the Python driver is available at the <a
href="https://pypi.python.org/pypi/nosqldb">Python Software
Foundation</a>. <br>
</p>
<u>Oracle NoSQL now used for Database Mobile Server: </u> Oracle
Database Mobile Server 12.1.0.0.0 now uses Oracle NoSQL Database as
the back end storage repository. This allows customers to sync data
from thousands of IoT devices into a low cost, scalable data
repository.<br>
