Synopsis: New Ksplice Uptrack client provides several improvements
Version: 1.2.1
Issue date: 2010-04-14

OBTAINING THE NEW VERSION

We recommend that all Ksplice Uptrack users on Debian and Ubuntu
systems upgrade to the latest version. You can upgrade to the latest
version of Ksplice Uptrack by running:

# apt-get update
# apt-get install uptrack

DESCRIPTION

The updated Ksplice Uptrack client contains the following improvements:

* The `uptrack-upgrade` and `uptrack-show` commands now display the version
  number of the effective kernel.

* The Ksplice Uptrack client now ships with a `uptrack-uname`
  utility. `uptrack-uname` reports a machine's effective kernel
version, taking into account updates applied through Uptrack. Its
command-line syntax and output format are compatible with the
standard `uname` utility. This tool is intended to be used with
auditing tools that expect input in the `uname` format.

For more information about the uptrack-uname utility and the
Ksplice Uptrack effective version, please see
  <http://ksplice.com/uptrack/using#uptrack-uname>

The updated Ksplice Uptrack client includes fixes for the following issues:

* The check_uptrack_local nagios plugin could fail to run on some
  RHEL-based systems.

* Under certain out-of-disk conditions, the Uptrack client would
misbehave in a way that confused the Uptrack status interface's
  tracking of client machines.

* The client would report a confusing error message in certain cases
  of malformed configuration files.
