Synopsis: RHSA-2016:2766-1 can now be patched using Ksplice
CVEs: CVE-2016-1583

Systems running RHCK on Oracle Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6,
CentOS 6, and Scientific Linux 6 can now use Ksplice to patch against
the latest Red Hat Security Advisory, RHSA-2016:2766-1.

INSTALLING THE UPDATES

We recommend that all users of Ksplice Uptrack running OL 6, RHEL 6,
CentOS 6, and Scientific Linux 6 install these updates.

On systems that have "autoinstall = yes" in /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf,
these updates will be installed automatically and you do not need to
take any action.

Alternatively, you can install these updates by running:

# /usr/sbin/uptrack-upgrade -y

DESCRIPTION

* CVE-2016-1583: Privilege escalation in eCryptfs.

eCryptfs was incorrectly trying to use the mmap() file operation on lower
filesystem that may not support it. A local, unprivileged user could use
this flaw to cause a denial-of-service through recursive faults or
potentially escalate privileges.

* Denial-of-service when sending a TCP reset from the netfilter.

A failure to reset a socket buffer when building a TCP reset packet in the
netfilter leads to a kernel crash. Depending on the configuration, a
remote attacker could use this flaw to cause a denial-of-service.
