Thank you for reaching back to us.

The problem you are facing is that the repo has a stale HEAD pointer.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I am looking into fixing this.

Anyway this should not stop you from getting the sources. The clone has
been succesfull. Just git can't checkout default branch. You should be able
to pick our latest code by doing:

   cd <cloned-repo>
   git checkout topic/4.14.21/dtrace

This will give you topic branch with latest kernel changes on top of 
4.14.21 kernel.
At the moment this branch can be merged up to 4.14.24 (we haven't done 
further
testing yet).

Having tarballs for release is a good idea. We are looking into it too.

Please be patient as things are still ongoing and there may be some more 
changes
over time. I will keep you updated.
